Minnie Lee Wells, 95, of Stanton, died on Monday, March 26, 2001 at her daughter's residence in Midland. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 28, 2001 at First Baptist Church, Stanton with Rev. David Harp, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. She was born on March 12, 1906 in Greenville, Texas and married W. T. Wells, Sr. on August 9,1924 in Greenville, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1987. Mrs. Wells came to Stanton in 1925 from Commerce. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Stanton and had taught Sunday School for many years. A member of the Texas Home Demonstration Club for 64 years; she had been recognized as one of the oldest members. She also received recognition as an Outstanding Older Texan and was active as a 4-H Club leader for 40 years. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Nona and Bill Smith of Midland; one brother, Carl Lands of Commerce; a sister-in-law, Nora Jones also of Commerce; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sons, W. T. Wells, Jr. and Billy Joe Wells. The family suggests memorials to: Home Hospice of Midland, 1802 W. Wall St., Midland, Texas 79701.
