Minnie Alyne Chapman, 90, of Big Spring, died on Monday, March 17, 2003, in Midland. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Royce Clay, retired Church of Christ minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. Minnie was born on August 4, 1912 in Garden City, Texas to Sallye and Edd Sanders. She went to school in Garden City until 1923 when the family moved north of Big Spring. In 1933 they moved into Big Spring. She married Jeff Tyrant Chapman on July 28, 1934 in Stanton, Texas and they had three children, Carroll Wayne, Richard Lynn and Janice Yvonne. She was preceded in death by Jeff on March 1, 1989; Richard Lynn on February 19, 1942; her parents; sisters, Willie Russell, Hazel Chapman, Frances McCormick, Edna Cothran, Georgie Abiagale Sanders and an unnamed infant brother. She is survived by one son and his wife, Carroll Wayne and Bernell Chapman of Dallas; one daughter and her husband, Janice and Johnney Witcher of Midland; one granddaughter and her husband, Dawn and Tommy McGuire; one grandson, Jay Witcher; two great grandchildren, Kristalun and Devyn McGuire; one brother and his wife, Charles Cecil and Beverly Sanders of Fort Worth; two sisters, Callie Sanders of Bryan and Alice Ruth and her husband, Larry Cothran of Dallas; lots of nieces, nephews and cousins, including John Thomas Sanders of Lamesa and a long time friend, Wilma Faye Trantham of Sebastian, Florida. Minnie was a member of the Highway 80 Church of Christ for many years and in later years, not being able to attend services, her membership was with the Anderson Street Church of Christ. Minnie baby sat many children over the years trying to help Jeff make a living for the family. She always did hand-work up until a few years ago when her eye sight wouldn't allow it. She also enjoyed giving wedding and baby showers for just about everyone she knew. The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
