Mildred Taylor, 78, of Big Spring, died on Wednesday, February 5, 2003, at her residence. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, February 7, 2003, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Dr. Randy Cotton, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. She was born on December 3, 1924 in Melvin, Texas and married Willis E. Taylor on December 1, 1945 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1995. Mrs. Taylor came to Big Spring in 1953 from Brady and was a nurse. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, needlepoint and dancing. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Shirley Higgins of Cedar Park and Linda and Johnny Schafer of Big Spring; five brothers, Otha Fortson of Melvin, Cecil Fortson of New Braunfels, Joe Fortson of Lubbock, Milton Fortson of Temple and Ray Fortson of Big Spring; one sister, Irene Maxwell of Big Spring; 2 granddaughters, 2 great granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
