Mildred Haggard, 79, of Stanton, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2007, in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the Belvue Church of Christ Stanton with Bill Welsh, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 29 at 7 P.M. at the Wells family home in Lenorah. She was born on August 15, 1928, in Big Spring, Texas to W.J. and Clara Allred a pioneer family of Knott. She married Buster Haggard on December 24, 1949 in Stanton, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 30, 2001.Mildred grew up in Knott and graduated from Knott High School in 1946. After marrying she and her husband Buster, lived and farmed in the Lenorah Community. Mildred owned and operated Needle In The Haystack for a number of years in Stanton. She was involved in 4-H Club and The Home Demonstration Club. She was a member of Belvue Church of Christ. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-laws, Becky and Elton Williams of Stanton, Ann and Hugh Schafer of Glasscock County and Jackie and Willie Wells of Lenorah; 10 grandchildren; Numerous great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; two brothers, Bill Allred and Jack Allred both of Stanton.She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Janice Pitts in January 2002, and one grandson Buster Franklin.
