Mildred Caradine (Lawdermilk) Burchett Hopper

Mildred Caradine (Lawdermilk) Burchett Hopper peacefully went to her heavenly home and family at the age of 101 on the 31st of May 2022. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Gilbreath Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, June 6, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Stanton. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

She was a beloved wife, mother of 4, grandmother of 6, great grandmother of 13, and great, great grandmother of 9. She would answer to Mema, Granma, or Grandmother. It didn’t matter to her and she truly loved everyone of them. Her favorite saying to them was: “I love you little, I love you big, I love you like a little pig.”

She lived a full life loving and serving her family and her friends. She loved family get-togethers and always made sure there was plenty to eat. She was a beautiful seamstress and she loved gardening.

Caradine was born and raised in Big Spring, Texas on February 14, 1921 (Valentines Baby) to Virgel Edger and Mary Lee Lawdermilk. She married her first love, William Edward Burchett in 1942. He was in the United States Air Force and killed in action in WW II in 1944. In 1949, she married her second love, John Rellos Hopper. They lived in a farming community in Lenorah, Texas from 1949 to 1999. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tarzan, Texas.

She is survived by her sister, Billie Schultz of Enid, Oklahoma , children Wayne Burchett and wife Judy of Greenwood, Texas, Brenda Robertson and husband Jim of San Angelo, Texas, Rex Hopper of Big Spring, Texas, and Dave Hopper and wife Mary of Midland, Texas. 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 9 great, great grandchildren.

Caradine is preceded in death by her parents Virgel and Mary Lee Lawdermilk, brothers Lee Lawdermilk and Edwin Lawdermilk, one sister, Loyce Ballard. Also her first husband, Edward Burchett and her second husband John Rellos Hopper.

The family would like to express their gratitude toward Interim Hospice staff. They were so good at meeting all the care for our Mom. Also the staff at Parkview Nursing care went beyond on tending to our Mothers needs while she was there.
