Mildred Callihan, 93, of Big Spring, died peacefully at her home December 1, 2015. Graveside funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park.She was born July 31, 1922 into a Reagan County ranching family whose ancestors settled in what was then the Republic of Texas. Mildred spent her formative years on the Cauble Ranch near Stiles, Texas where she was \home schooled\ by her oldest brother, E. G. Cauble, Jr. She later attended boarding school in Big Lake, Texas before graduating from Texas Tech with a degree in home economics. Mildred later taught school in Las Cruces, New Mexico before marrying Ross J. Callihan July 8, 1945. He preceded her in death July 21, 2006. She was a longtime member of Baptist Temple Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.Survivors include one daughter and two sons, Sherri Wigington and husband, Bill, of Big Spring, Larry Callihan and wife, Jackie Sullivan of Boulder, Colorado, and Alton Callihan and wife, Ruth Anne, of Medina, Texas. Surviving grandchildren include, Faith Belew, Eryn Callihan, Logan Callihan, Hayley Degnan and husband, Zack, Haylea Dooley and husband, Chad, Branda Paez and husband, Mike, and Clayton Wigington. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Daegan Callihan and Ryker Degnan; and her sister-in-law and best friend, Geneva Roberts of Big Spring.The family suggests memorials to Baptist Temple Church, 400 E. 11th Place, Big Spring, Texas 79720 or to a favorite charity.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
