Mickey Euless Taylor, 79, of Midland, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 22, 2022 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 10:00AM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Mickey was born on March 3, 1943 to Elaine and E.O. Taylor in Eastland, TX. The Taylor family moved to Midland during the oil boom of the 1950s. Mickey attended schools in MISD and went to Midland High School. After an early attempt at free enterprise and entrepreneurship, aka bootlegging alcohol to Pulp lumberjacks in Mingus, resulted in wrecked car, which came to rest at the bottom of Ranger Hill, Mickey, with the help of a Judge, decided the Army might offer greater horizons. So off he went to serve his country as corpsman in Germany. Part way through deployment Mickey suffered severe damage to a knee during a parachuting accident. After surgery and a medical release, Mickey returned to Midland. There he married Sharon Taylor and worked for a time at Parkview Hospital and with Dr. Thurston Dean. Mickey took on the hobby of making jewelry, which quickly turned from hobby to a passion to a career. He would spend the bulk of his time in Midland doing custom jewelry work and working at the MorRocCo. Mickey coached his sons in baseball and taught jewelry making classes and was involved with the Gem and Mineral Society of Midland.
Mickey later remarried to Linda S. Taylor and they spent the last 20 plus years doing title work throughout the state of Texas and Oklahoma. Mickey and Linda spent ten years in Nacogdoches, TX doing title work and making tons of friends. Then they moved to Duncan, Oklahoma, thus showing that God has a sense of humor as Mickey always was want to say that Oklahoma was one of the worse places in the world. Linda and he enjoyed spending time with grandkids, going to the casinos, and making friends with almost everyone in south central Oklahoma. In 2020, right as Covid was surging throughout the country, Linda and Mickey moved back to Midland to have better care as he began to suffer from various medical issues.
Mickey was man who was soft spoken, but when he spoke people tended to listen. Comfortable in crowds or in an intimate setting, Linda and Mickey leave not only family but also a string of dear friends who will mourn his passing, but also celebrate that they got a chance to be friends.
Pallbearers will be: Jake Taylor, Brody Barton, Riley Barton, Blake Boney, Tyler Grizzell, and Antonio Chavez.
