Michael Anderson “Mike” Harrison was born on April 3, 1942, in Pecos, Texas, to Nell Betty Anderson Harrison and Rev. Dr. Oliver Harrison. Raised in Corpus Christi, he graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1960 and earned a degree in Business from Texas Christian University in 1964, beginning a lifelong love for TCU.
Mike began his career at First National Bank in Fort Worth before returning to Pecos to manage the Anderson family business interests. Known for his integrity, hard work, and service to others, he became a respected businessman and community leader. He served on the Pecos City Council, as Reeves County Judge, as a director of Security State Bank, and as an elder at First Christian Church. Governor Bill Hobby also appointed him to a state commission focused on rural economic development.
Mike and Brenda later made Midland their home, where he built lasting friendships and continued enjoying one of his greatest passions, golf. A fierce but gracious competitor, he recorded five holes-in-one, won six Senior Club Championships at Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville, and earned the Pecos Men’s Golf Association Senior Club Champion title eight times between 2001 and 2012.
Mike’s devotion to TCU never faded. Together, Mike and Brenda established an endowed scholarship to help deserving students attend TCU and also supported the Football Performance Center. In 2023, he received TCU’s prestigious Royal Purple Award.
Above all else, Mike treasured his family. He adored Brenda throughout more than 45 years of marriage; one of his greatest joys was making her laugh. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; his sons, Michael Harrison Jr. and wife Penny, Gray Harrison, and Nicholas Harrison; his daughter, Christina Harrison Pittman; and his cherished grandchildren.
Mike will be remembered for his faith, generosity, loyalty and deep love for family and friends.
