Michael Anderson “Mike” Harrison was born on April 3, 1942, in Pecos, Texas, to loving parents Nell Betty Harrison and Reverend Oliver Harrison. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, May 12th, 2026, at First Christian Church of Midland, Texas. A reception will follow the service at Green Tree Country Club from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.
Raised in Corpus Christi, Mike graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1960 before earning a degree in Business from Texas Christian University in 1964. A proud Horned Frog from the very beginning, his deep affection for TCU remained a constant joy throughout his life.
Mike began his professional career at First National Bank in Fort Worth. Following the passing of his grandmother, Ollie P. Anderson, he returned to Pecos at his mother’s request to manage the Anderson family estate and business interests. What began as a responsibility soon became his life’s work. As managing partner of Anderson Enterprises, he built a reputation as a respected and principled businessman known for his integrity and foresight.
Deeply committed to his roots, Mike loved Reeves County and its people. He believed strongly in service, personal responsibility, and doing what was right. He served on the Pecos City Council, ran for Reeves County Judge, and gave generously of his time to numerous civic and church organizations. He served as a director of Security State Bank, as an elder at First Christian Church, and was appointed by Governor Bill Hobby to a state commission dedicated to rural economic development.
Later in life, certain situations led Brenda, Mike, and their son Nicholas to move to Midland, a city they quickly came to love. Mike soon found a welcoming golf group there, and his passion for friendly, respectful competition continued to thrive.
Mike’s love for Texas Christian University never faded. Together with Brenda, he established an endowed scholarship to make a TCU education more accessible for talented and deserving students. The couple also contributed meaningfully to the construction of the Football Performance Center. In 2023, Mike was deeply honored with TCU’s prestigious Royal Purple Award in recognition of his lifelong generosity and unwavering commitment to the university.
He was also a big TCU football fan and a passionate golfer. To call Mike competitive would be an understatement. He had five holes-in-one, won the Senior Club Championship at Riverhill Country Club in Kerrville six times, and took home the Pecos Men’s Golf Association Senior Club Champion title eight times between 2001 and 2012. His golfing friends will remember his skill, sportsmanship, and that sparkle in his eye when the game was on the line.
Yet above all else, Mike treasured his family. He not only loved his wife Brenda – he adored her completely. Even after more than 45 beautiful years of marriage, he still lit up at the sound of her laughter and considered making her smile one of life’s greatest pleasures. Brenda was never just part of his world; she was the very center of it.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda; his sons, Michael Harrison Jr. and his wife Penny, Gray Harrison, and Nicholas Harrison; his daughter, Christina Harrison Pittman; and his five cherished grandchildren. He leaves behind a family who will carry forward his values and the warmth of his love for generations to come.
Mike lived a full and meaningful life rooted in faith, integrity, hard work, community service, and boundless love. His legacy of steady strength, generosity, and devotion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
