Mev Upton, 66, of Midland, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, November 24, 2006. Memorial services have been scheduled for Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at 10 AM at the First Baptist Church Chapel with Rev. David Johnson, Associate Pastor, officiating. Mev was born on August 21, 1940 in Lampasas, Texas to Weldon and Nellie Upton. After he graduated high school he attended Howard Payne College. After college he went to work for General Tire, which changed to Ameripol Sympol. He worked with them 43 years until he retired in August of 2002, as a Quality Assurance Engineer. Mev met Glynece McCutchen and they married on April 23, 1992 in Lovington County, New Mexico. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Midland. Mev was involved with Church Builders, Campers on Mission, and the Baptist Men – Disaster Relief. He was also a volunteer for the summer staff at the Heart of Texas Baptist Camp at Lake Brownwood, the Baptist Crisis Center. He also was active at the First Baptist Church Solid Rock Cafe at the activitiy center and was the hamburger cook on Wednesdays and Thursdays.He is survived by his loving wife, Glynece Upton of Midland,TX; two daughters, Tammie Maxwell and Michelle Yost both of Lubbock, TX; his father, Weldon E. Upton of San Angelo, TX; one brother, Ronnie and wife Mary Upton of New Braunfels; three grandsons, Matthew and Chad Maxwell of Odessa, TX and Brandon Yost of Lubbock, TX; one granddaughter, Amber Yost of Lubbock, TX; five step children, Cynthia Lord of Dallas, TX, Brenda Kohlert of Paige, TX, Pamela James of Merit, TX, Jeff and Clay McClelland both of Flower Mound, TX; thirteen step grandchildren, Shae Lord and Danielle Wright both of Dallas, TX, Heidi Lord of Midland, TX, Jeffrey and Jennifer McClelland both of Sanger, TX, Amanda and Matthew Hernandez both of Flower Mound, TX, Stephanie and Dustin James both of Merit, TX, Amanda McClelland of Florida, Daniel and Jessica McClelland both of Flower Mound, TX, Wayne Peters of Lewisville, TX; eight great-grandchildren; one niece Stacy and one nephew Cory.He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie V. Upton. Family suggest memorials be made to Baptist Campers on Mission in care of Bill Sewell at 2104 W.
