Merritt H. Barnes, 81, of Big Spring, died on Sunday, May 26, 2002, in a local hospital. Graveside funeral services will be at 5:00 PM Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at Trinity Memorial Park with his son, Curtis Barnes, officiating.     He was born on September 8, 1920 in Corsicana, Texas.      Mr. Barnes came to Big Spring in 1930. He worked for the Railroad as a fireman and an engineer for 35 years, retiring on September 1, 1985. He was one of the first contractors to build homes in the Sand Springs area and in Kentwood.     He served in the United States Army under General George S. Patton during World War II.     Survivors include two sons, M. H.,
