Merrita Chambers, 59, of Big Spring, died Sunday, September 23, 2012, at the Baptist Hospice House in San Angelo. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland with Rev. Bob Porterfield, officiating. She was born December 28, 1952, in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, and married Charles Leon Chambers in 1975 in Austin, Texas. He preceded her in death November 5, 1987.Merrita, whose name means merriment, moved with her family to West Texas during the 1960's. She loved her sons and making people laugh. She enjoyed making jewelry.Survivors include two sons, Eric Chambers and partner, Adrian Davila of Big Spring, and Corey Chambers and wife, Christina of Austin; her mother, Matlida Jones of Midland; three sisters, Renee Furr of Arkansas, Frances Yandell and Mickey Stafford both of Midland; and two brothers, Randy Jones and Edward Jones both of Midland.She was also preceded in death by her father, Lester Jones and one brother, Gaylon Jones. Meritta was a very sweet, loving person. We had not seen her in a few years, but will remember her always. To her sons, we are very sorry for the loss of your mother.

Meritta and the boys have been a part of my life for a long time. We shared a lot of memories together. I feel a great loss in my heart, with much sadness. I love you all.

Eric and Corey , i just want to say sorry for your loss, i really loved your mother she was like a sister to me , even in her crazy ways !lol . i know that her and kevin had some good times and some bad times but they always came out good . merrita is in a better place and may she rest in peace , God be with you Eric and Corey :

May you rest in peace Merrita. We may have grown apart over the years, but you were and always will be part of who I was and who I became. Thank you for the memories.

Merrita may you fly with the Angels. Your were such a good friend to both mine and Jimmy's family. We will never forget your laugh and your smile. You were like a sister. We went through some good and bad times togather but we always made it through. You wil truly be missed. May you rest in peace. May God bless your family and help them through this hard time.

Eric your mother had a good heart she was there for my sister Barbara she would rub her feet when they were so sowllen she help take care of her. And I know she loved the lord one time I gave her a bible study book and she did not want anyone touching her book because she wanted it there so she could read it and study her bible. She was very loved by our family and I thank God Barbara had a true friend like Merrita she will be truley missed You and your family will be in our prayers. May God bless you and give you peace during this time.
