Merrilyn McKinney Morris, 97, of Midland passed away on Monday, August 01, 2016. The family will be accepting guests from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 02, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 03, 2016. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.Merrilyn was born on August 04, 1918 near Avinger in Cass County, Texas, to Oscar Olin “C.O.” McKinney and Rachel Minerva Byler. She graduated from Avinger High School. After World War II she moved to Fort Worth where she met Curtis Leon Morris. They married in 1948 in Decatur, Texas, and moved to a farm south of Littlefield, Texas. They had four children, a daughter, Marilyn Laverne Morris and three sons, Curtis Leon Morris, Jr., Charles William Morris and James Glen Morris. In 1957 they moved to Midland, Texas. Merrilyn was happiest when she was working in the garden. She also enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She was a lifelong missionary Baptist and member of Tall City Missionary Baptist Church, Midland, Texas.She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Laverne Morris Russell and husband, Raymond, sons Charles William Morris and wife, Susan, and James Glen Morris; five grandchildren, Rhonda Dianne Russell Walker, and husband, David, Renee Lynn Russell, Darryl Wayne Russell, John William Morris and wife, Kaci, Rebecca Morris Wilson and husband, Heath; twelve great-grandchildren, Ashley Dawn Walker, Amber Dianne Walker, Kedryn Lee Gordon, Clayton Lawrence Westbrook, Spencer Wyatt Westbrook, Raelynn Dee Westbrook, William Kent Morris, George James Morris, twins Marjorie Beatrice Morris and Robert Philip Morris, Brady Wilson and Blake Charles Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Curtis Leon Morris, her son, Curtis Leon Morris, Jr., her brother, Halbert Arnold McKinney and her sister, Elgerene Laverne McKinney Loyd.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Second Baptist Church Missions, P.O.
