Last week the Lord chose Maxine Owens to be with Him, her mother and her sons.Maxine was born February 11, 1940 in Haskell, Texas to Lenora Turnbow Proctor … She grew to be a beautiful person who was \mom\ to many more than the three children she gave birth to. She spent most of her life in Big Spring and west Texas, but had several adventurous times across the U.S. as she loved to experience life in new places. She was, in her words, a \hair dresser\ for many years in Big Spring, then graduated from Howard College Nursing Program in 1985. She worked caring for the those who could not care for themselves in Big Spring and Lubbock. At age 75 she became ill and came back to Big Spring to be close to her family. She loved spending time with her family playing games… Wa-hoo, cards, or dominoes… and winning!!She is preceded in death by her parents, Lenora Turnbow McCarty, Bill Proctor, Cecil Williams; her sons, John Wesley Holden and Ricky Paul Holden.She is survived by her husband, Russell W. Owens; her daughter, Renee Barraza; three grandchildren, Michelle Leath and her husband Ryan, Codee Barraza and his wife Kayla, and Carlee Barraza; three great grandchildren, Gentry Barraza, Ryder and Chevelle Leath and numerous extended family members.A memorial celebration of Maxine's life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Dora Roberts Community Center Lake Room with the Reverend Lynn Robertson officiating. ,
