Maurine Talley Driver, 88, of Big Spring, died on Thursday, October 9, 2008, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Dr. Kenneth Patrick, officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.She was born on October 26, 1919, in Palo Pinto, Texas and married E. P. Driver on December 26, 1942 in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1995.Talley graduated from the University School of Nursing in Galveston in 1940 and attended the University of Texas. She came to Big Spring in 1940 and worked at Hall and Bennett Hospital. A member of First United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Philetha Sunday School Class and a life member of United Methodist Womens Society. She loved her church. She taught Sunday School and enjoyed working with the children. She was a member of the Womens Forum, and did volunteer work with the County Health Unit with crippled children, the Westside Center and the State Hospital.Talley loved nature, the outdoors, the beautiful sunrises and sunsets in West Texas, gardening, wildlife; but most of all she loved her family and friends. She loved people and always showed concern for them and their everyday lives.Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Skipper and Wanda Driver of Big Spring; her grandson, Dane Driver and wife, Jennifer of Garden City; her great granddaughter, Jordan Talley Driver of Garden City; a sister-in-law, Edith Talley of Leesburg, Virginia; two nieces, Mauneula and Roland Herrmann of Chicago, Illinois and Drs. Corrina and Steve Schrankel of Leesburg, Virginia; and two great nieces, Stephanie Schrankel and Catherine Schrankel. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, Ethel and Virgil Talley and one brother, James Watson Talley. The family suggests memorials be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O.
