Maurine Lucille Burton Riedel, 75, of Midland passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014. Funeral services will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 7:00pm with a reception to follow with Chaplain Wade Cobb officiating. Interment will be on Friday at Saint Ann Cemetery in Walker, Kansas.Maurine was born on June 1, 1938 to Edgar and Irene Burton in Borger, Texas. She was an artist specializing in western and rustic pieces. She worked as a desk clerk at La Quinta and used her outgoing nature to bond with all that passed through the doors. Maurine was very kind, loved conversation, enjoyed meeting new people, and was known for her loving and friendly personality. She loved and adored her two grandsons, Westleigh and Jacob Carter, and was fondly known as “MeeMaw” by the two boys. She was married to her loving husband, Michael Riedel, for 22 years and had one daughter, LaVon Carter. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her and leaves behind many fond memories.Maurine is survived by her husband, Michael Riedel of Midland; daughter, LaVon Carter and husband, Daniel of Midland; grandchildren, Westleigh Carter of Guymon, Oklahoma and Jacob Carter of Midland; uncles, Bruce Rigler and Robert Rigler and wife, Minnie, all of Plainview, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Irene Burton; brother, Doug Burton; and sister, Reba Burton.In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, (to donate by phone please call 800-805-5856).,
