Maurice Carter, 86 of Midland, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2007 at a local care facility in Midland. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Elder Carl "Hoot" Leonard. Jr. of Community of Christ, officiating.He was born on June 25, 1920 in Springerton, Illinois and married Pansy Summers on October 31, 1944 in Carmi, Illinois. She preceded him in death on April 19, 1999. He grew up in Carmi and attended high school in Crossville. He served in World War II as a test pilot. Maurice loved the outdoors, building things, and was involved in Little League Baseball in the 1950's. Moving to Midland in 1955, he worked for the Midland Country Club for 35 years. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jill Harless, and one brother, Wayne Carter.Survivors include daughter, Jeannie Morrison and her husband, Tom of Midland; son, Bruce Carter and his wife Jackie also of Midland; son-in-law, Greg Harless of Houston; sister, Doris Cartledge of San Antonio; 6 grandchildren, Rachel and Molly Cherry, Cole Carter, Suzanna Perun, Jennifer Harless, and Gregory Harless; 3 great granchildren, Maddie, Carter and Austin Perun.The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to his caregivers, past and present, Mary Johnson, Fred Jimenez, Carrie Gilbert, Josie Martinez, Amy Martinez, Mary Garrett, Mary Gonzales, Wayne Williams, and Jennifer at Home Hospice.The family suggests memorials be made to: Home Hospice, 901 West Missouri, Midland, TX 79701 or to High Sky Children's Ranch, 8701 WCR 60, Midland, TX 79706.,
