Mattie Boling

Mattie "Cotton" Boling, 87, of Big Spring, died on Sunday, February 27, 2005, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2005 at Mt. Olive Memorial Park with Billy Reed, minister of Anderson Street Church of Christ and Rev. Matt Miles, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.She was born on July 27, 1917, in Big Spring, Texas and married Bill Boling on November 3, 1941 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1989.Mattie had lived most of her life in Big Spring and was raised by the Anderson Bailey family after the death of her parents, George and Alice Hockerston. She kept many children in her home for several years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Tom Rountree of Eddy, her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Christine Boling of Big Spring; seven grandchildren including Brandon and Charlie Boling of Big Spring; eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, James David; six sisters and four brothers. The family suggests memorials be made to the Big Spring Vietnam Memorial Committee, P.O.
