Mary Sue Robertson, 78, of Midland, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
Mary was born January 30, 1946, in Gilmer, Texas to John Robert (Dee) and Lizzy Lourine (Lou) Long.
Mary’s family moved to Midland when she was a year old. She was raised on a dairy farm south of town and was a graduate of Midland High School in 1964. She married Donald Ray (Don) Robertson August 1, 1969. Although Mary held a few other jobs, she was an oil and gas secretary for most of her career. She became a member at Valley View Baptist Church in 1992.
She enjoyed sewing and embroidery. She was quite good at crocheting. She passed much time reading. She could paint and she could draw. She had a green thumb for African violets and an array of succulents. But what she enjoyed most of all was singing.
Her love of music lead her to join the choir and she was the Music Director for many years. Traditional hymns were her favorite and preferred mode of praising our Lord. She had many laughs and fun times at Saturday choir practices, and she looked forward to Sunday mornings standing before the congregation in her bright and beautiful dresses, belting out “How Great Thou Art,” “Do, Lord, Remember Me,” “I’II Fly Away,” and so many more amazing hymns.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents Dee and Lou Long, husband Don Robertson, and son Johny Robertson.
She is survived by her daughter Donna Robertson and her fiancé Frank Hernandez, grandchildren Savannah Robertson, Andrew Robertson, Samuel Reyes and Zela Reyes, her brother Johnnie Long and wife Janie, her sister Nancy Jones and husband Raymond, many nieces and nephews, and many fond friends and neighbors.
