Mary Lynn Welch, 86, of Big Spring, died Friday, October 31, 2014 in a Midland hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 3, 2014 at the First Baptist Church, Big Spring with Rev. Mark Lindsey, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park, Big Spring.The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.Mary Lynn was born September 21, 1928 in Baylor County, Texas, to the late Thomas Eric and Essie Melinda (Swilling) Brock. She married her high school sweetheart, Ernest A. Welch, Jr., June 2, 1946 at the First Baptist Church in Seymour, Texas. When their marriage of 68 years began, Ernest said \it was love at first sight.\Mary Lynn and Ernest moved to Big Spring in 1953, when he went to work for Eberly-River Funeral Home. She was an integral part of the operations of River-Welch Funeral Home and then the combined Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Homes. She was instrumental in starting the Special Education program in Big Spring Schools to ensure that her daughter, Lynda Sue, would have a good education. A charter member of College Baptist Church, she is now a member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of The Social Order of the Beauceants Big Spring Assembly No. 211, the Order of the Eastern Star, and Altrusa International Inc. Mary Lynn enjoyed her bridge club and playing with her many dear friends. She was the ultimate entertainer and cook, and always loved being with family and friends. She was the best \Meme\ to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and Ernest enjoyed spending summers with their friends and family at their home in Ruidoso. They also had many fun filled adventures traveling with their friends and fellow board members of Funeral Director's Life Insurance Company.Mary Lynn is survived by her husband, Ernest Welch of Big Spring; three children, Phillip Welch and wife, Nancy, Pam Welch and husband, James and Tommy Welch and wife, Teresa all of Big Spring; five grandchildren, Kasi Welch Baker and husband, Brad of Midland, Kylee Stockard and husband, Wesley of Abilene, Kaegan Welch and wife, Florence of New York, NY, David Welch of San Angelo, and Eric Welch of Big Spring; three great grandchildren, Ellery and Rowan Baker and Hudson Stockard.In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lynda Sue Welch; one brother, Leonard Brock; and two sisters, Helen Jane Hooser Cox and Bessie Lou Hooser.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
