Mary Louise McCleskey Haislip

Mary Louise McCleskey Haislip, 96, of Stanton, passed away on October 13, 2023.  A visitation will take place 5:00pm-7:00pm, Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton.  A memorial service will be held 10:00am on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the First Methodist Church in Stanton with Bobby Wilson officiating.

Mary was born September 23, 1927 in Davidson, Oklahoma.  Mary grew up in several towns in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico where her father, Rev. A.A. McCleskey was pastor for local Methodist Churches.  After graduating high school in Toyah, Texas, Mary continued her education at McMurry College, graduating in 1948.  She then began her teaching career in Stanton where she continued until her retirement.

A lifelong member of the Methodist Church, Mary was active in many roles, from Sunday school teacher to choir member, director and organist.

Mary is survived by her children, Patricia Wilson and husband Bob, Walt Haislip and wife Jeanne, Mindy Parker and husband Dan, and Tommy Haislip and wife Shereata.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bob Haislip and by her parents and four brothers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Methodist Church, Stanton.
