Mary Lou Hall, 96-year-old resident of Manor Park, in Midland, died Saturday, March 9, 2024.
She was born July 24, 1927, in Indianapolis, to Donnis and Pauline Winegar. Mary Lou grew up in Indiana and, after attending Purdue University, married her college sweetheart, David Anton. They lived in Cleveland, Ohio and San Diego, California before retiring in Morro Bay, California. After Dave’s death, she married Alvin Hall. Together they resettled in Salem, Oregon and eventually moved to Midland.
Mary Lou volunteered throughout her life at church, school, and in the community. She was active in Chi Omega Sorority, the San Diego County Board of Elections, the League of Women Voters, Hospice of Midland, and Grace Presbyterian Church. She found joy in helping others and in the company of her family and a wide circle of friends. She also loved gardening, cooking, and baking (for which she won awards), traveling to new places or old favorites, and spending quiet time at the beach.
She is survived by her son Doug Anton (Carole) of Rapid City, South Dakota; her daughter, Sue Einspahr (Phil) of Rochester, Minnesota; and her daughter, Mary Beth Anton (Jeff Hewett) of Midland, as well as six grandchildren; Rob Anton (Vanessa), Tom Einspahr, Emily Knott (Jason), Riley Einspahr, Dave Hewett (Alyssa Hatton), Ellie Hewett (Sam Klein); and one great granddaughter, Sofia Anton. Also surviving her are her beloved sister-in-law, Yvonne Anton of Aurora, Colorado; two nieces, Janiece Anton Ike (Rich) and Debi Hamaker; and one nephew, Larry Anton.
Her family is grateful for the many months of gracious loving care provided by Martha Ramirez and her team, the joy provided by her friendship with Elsa Rodriguez, and the warm companionship of her two dogs, Ollie and Sophie.
Her memorial service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Lana Russell will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Hospice of Midland, 911 W. Texas Avenue, Midland, Texas, 79701, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
