Mary Katherine Moody, 78, of Big Spring, died Saturday, February 20, 2016 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Big Spring with Dr. John Marshall, Deacon, officiating. Inurnment of ashes will be held at a later date.The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory.Mary was born Saturday, April 17, 1937 in Honey Grove, Texas to Herbert and Evie Lela Carter and married Robert L. \Bob\ Moody, an officer in the U.S. Army, Friday, May 17, 1963 in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He preceded her in death May 15, 2008.She attended San Angelo schools and graduated from San Angelo High School in 1955. She graduated from North Texas University with a teaching degree. She taught at the elementary level in school districts in Denver, Colorado, San Angelo, Texas, and in the Department of Defense education system in Germany during the 1960's. She especially loved teaching fourth grade students reading skills. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church. She loved learning and continued her education throughout her life. She also loved her Sunday comics.In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents,She is survived by two sons, David A. Moody of Box Elder, South Dakota and John E. Moody of Big Spring; a daughter, Lyndel Moody of Big Spring; two sisters, Sharon Cenky and husband, Frank, and Lola Kambri and husband, Max; and her church family of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.The family wishes to thank Dr. Carl Anderton and staff of San Angelo and Crystal Peeples for their continued care.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to St. Mary's Episcopal Church, P.O.
