Mary Joyce Parson

Mary Joyce Parson passed away on, Saturday, January 10, 2026 surrounded by family and friends.

Mary was born on October 28, 1928 in Winters, Texas.  Her family moved to Midland in 1935.  Her mother died when she was in the first grade.  Mary and her three brothers were raised by their great grandmother.  She attended Midland’s First North Ward and finished at Midland High School.

Later in life, after the death of her husband Billie E. Parson, she went to work for MISD driving a school bus.  She drove for almost 20 years.

After retiring, Mary took up quilting, giving most of them to her family.  She was a faithful member of Crestview Baptist Church for over 40 years.  She loved God, family and her country.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Billie E. Parson, her three brothers, J.S. Patton, Richard “Sonny” Patton and Lawrence Derwood Patton.  Mary’s surviving siblings are her sister Betty Blackman of Denham Springs, Louisiana and brother Darrell (Linda) Patton of San Angelo, Texas.

Mary is survived by her sons, Randy Allen of Friendswood, Texas; Doyle Allen (DeLane) of Arlington, Texas; Joe Tom Allen (Alicia) of Midland, Texas and Farris Parson (Patti) of Midland, Texas, and her daughter Sally Taylor Oglesby (Bill Oglesby) of Midland, Texas.  She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and special friends Charlene Fox and Cindy Bledsoe.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice of Midland or Meals on Wheels.  Our family gives special thanks to Lanae, Andrea and Stephanie with Hospice of Midland.  Also, to the staff at Brookdale for their loving care and assistance with our mother.

Visitation will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland, 5:00-7:00pm Wednesday, January 14, 2026.  Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland. Burial will follow the service at Resthaven Memorial Park.
