Mary Helen Freeman beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, niece, aunt, cousin and friend, departed for the heavenly plain Friday, February 28, 2025, at the age of 79. Celebration of her life will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel in Midland.
She was born November 29,1945 in Bynum, Texas to Alfred Colvin and Willie Mae Thomas. Mary began her career at Sears Roebuck in Midland, Texas where she met the love of her life, Billy Gene Freeman. After many years of working at Sears, she began a new career at the Midland County Appraisal District where after 20 years, she retired.
While retired, Mary loved line dancing, participating in water aerobics at the YMCA, and attending church at True-Lite Christian Fellowship with her daughter Tangi. She was the most loving, kind, and generous woman you would ever meet and never missed the opportunity to show the love of Christ to everyone she encountered.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Colvin and Willie Mae Thomas; and her husband, Billy Gene Freeman; and a loving Aunt Rosie B. Cunningham Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her 4 brothers and sister, Alfred Colvin Jr, Tommy Colvin, Joy Colvin, Roy Colvin Sr. and Dan Colvin; her only child, Tangi Dickens; a niece she loved like a daughter, Angela Washington; her granddaughters, Chelsea Phelps, Jaylaan Knighten, and Ashlin Thomas; 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends who love her dearly.
