Mary Ellen Nixon Morgette, 85, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Saviour on February 22, 2016. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland, Texas.Mary was born on September 29, 1930 in Hot Springs (Truth or Consequences), New Mexico to Ora Myrtle and Robert Allen Nixon.She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Edward Allen Nixon; sister, Bobbie Jean Nixon; and grandson, William Aaron Campbell.Mary Ellen Nixon Morgette is survived by her husband Jimmy C. Morgette of Greenwood, TX, son Bill Morgette and Shannon of Andrews, TX, daughter Cindy Campbell and Robert of Midland, TX, daughter Pam Stacy and James of Greenwood, TX, daughter Marla Morgette and Belinda Duke of Midland, TX, 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.Mary was an amazing woman who was stricken with the crippling disease of polio at a young age. She persevered through numerous surgeries and extended hospital stays that earned her many lifelong friends and contributed to her strong and courageous character. At the age of 29 and having a son, Billy, Mary met the love of her life, Jimmy Morgette and this began a happy and devoted marriage that lasted over 55 years and a family legacy that continues on. Mary was an encouraging and fiercely loyal Mom to her children and Nana to her grandchildren and great grandchildren! Mary was a good friend and neighbor to those in Midkiff, Driver and Greenwood. Mary’s gifts of communication and organization and willingness to share them, compensated for her physical limitations. After moving to Greenwood, Mary was a valuable employee of the Greenwood Water Company for many years.The family would like to express their gratitude towards Kellie Craft of Hospice Midland; Chaplain Robert Kirk of Hospice Midland; Krystal Starling and Mary Carrasco of Visiting Angels; and Kathy Lasley of Comfort Keepers.Honorary pall bearers are comprised of these “Midkiff Camp Kids”: John Baker, Thomas Baker, Lea Ella Baker Arenivas, Emmit Baker, Marvin Baker, Kim Kidd Cast, Dewayne Franklin, Todd Munn, Dean Munn and Layne Rackley.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Midland, 911 W.
