Mary Askew, 59, of Midland, died on Sunday, October 14, 2001 in a local hospital. Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton, Texas with Rev. Bill Simpson, pastor of Tall City Baptist Church in Midland, officiating. She was born on August 31, 1942 in Stanton, Texas and married David C. Askew on November12, 1960 in Midland, Texas. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She had worked for Midland ISD as a cook until she retired in 1998. She was a member of Tall City Baptist Church. Mary was a member of the Fraternal order of Eagles-Permian Auxiliary, and also a member of the VFW #7208 Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, David C. Askew of Midland; one daughter and her husband, Kathy and Gary Culpepper of Irving; two sons, David W. and wife, Robin Askew of Midland and Jesse L. Askew of Corpus Christi; four grandchildren, Anthony and Brandon DeCicco and Andy and Ali Askew; one brother, Levi Hight of Corpus Christi; three sisters, Leona Haggerton and her husband Henry of Sanger, California, Emma East and her husband, Sonny of Chilton, Johanna Haggerton and her husband, Charlie of Corpus Christi; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother and five brothers. Pallbearers will be, Anthony DeCicco, Brandon DeCicco, Gary Culpepper, Charlie Haggerton Jr., Richard Haggerton, and Robert Hight. Honorary pallbearer will be Billy DeCicco.
