Mary "Alberta" Halfmann, 77, loving wife and mother, went to be with her good Lord on Tuesday, March 2, 2004, in a San Angelo hospital.Alberta was born to Walter Lee and Mary Ernst Holder on April 24, 1926 in Rowena, Texas. She married Ralph A. Halfmann on October 5, 1949 and lived in the St. Lawrence farming community where they were members of the St. Lawernce Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Theresa Alter Society and also served as one of the first Postmasters at St. Lawrence. Alberta was a homemaker and enjoyed farm life and riding with Ralph to check the livestock, the farm and care for the church cemetery.Surviving Alberta is Ralph, her loving partner in life for the past 54 years, and the joys of her life, her two sons, Rudy and wife, Linda, of Big Spring, Ronnie of St. Lawrence, two daughters, Sandra Halfmann of Miles and Diann Cmerek and husband, Jim, of St. Lawrence; three grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca and Douglas Cmerek also of St. Lawrence; two step grandchildren, Shawn Slayton and Buddy Slayton and wife Kerry; two step-great grandchildren, Seth and Nate Slayton. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert Holder and wife, Adeline, of Winters, and Fred Holder and wife, Virginia, of San Angelo. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Martin and Floyd Holder; and a sister, Ester Holder.Serving as pallbearers are Bobby Conner, David Holder, Richard Holder, Bill Holder, Lee Holder, Gary Halfmann, Baldwin Halfmann and Bobby Halfmann.Rosary will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Lawrence on Thursday, March 4, 2004 at 7 P.M. Funeral services and burial will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, March 5, 2004 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Lawrence with Rev. Tom Barley of San Angelo and Rev. Bernard Getigan, pastor, officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Lawrence Cemetery Association, 5400 FM 2401, Garden City, Texas 79739 or to a charity of your choice.
