Marvin George MaddocksAugust 30,1940 – June 6, 2009Marvin George Maddocks of Midland, Texas died on June 6, 2009 after a long and valiant battle with bile duct cancer. Marvin was born to George and Frankie Maddocks in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 30, 1940. He is survived by his wife, Sharlene Maddocks of Midland, Texas; his son, Kerry Maddocks and daughter-in-law, Tracy Maddocks of Montgomery, Texas; his daughter, Kelly Maddocks Houck and son-in-law, Gary Houck of Austin, Texas; his sisters and brothers-in law, Lynette Maddocks Gatlin and Larry Gatlin of San Antonio, Texas and Cathryn Collis and Peter Grundfossen of Salt Lake City, Utah; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sharon and Hal Jones of Camarillo, California; grandchildren Josh Maddocks, Kerrisa Maddocks and Royce Marousek; two great granddaughters, five nephews and one niece. Marvin served his country in the US Army from 1957 to 1978 with two tours in Vietnam. He went on to serve his local community as a US Postal Carrier in Midland, Texas from 1981 until 2006 when he retired. Marvin was active and held many offices, including Commander, in the Midland American Legion, Post #19. He was also a member of the Midland VFW, Post #7208. Marvin was an active member of the Suez Shrine Temple and achieved Master Mason membership of Midland Lodge 623 where he was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Belonging to Valley of Lubbock Orient of Texas.The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the Hospice Midland staff who took such wonderful and loving care of Marvin in his last hours. Also, our thanks go to The Allison Cancer Center staff, especially Dr. Ashutosh Rastogi and his staff. A very special thank you to Dr. Paul Best and his staff for their dedication over the many years.Memorial Services will be held Thursday June 11, 2009 at 2:00 PM:Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home3800 N.
