Marvin Edward Porter, loving husband, father and faithful servant, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, February 12, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 16, 2004 at the First Assembly of God Church in Midland with Rev. Mike Hanks, pastor, and Rev. Charles E. Shuffield, a retired Church of God minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.He was born on August 16, 1925, in Llano, Texas and married Wilma Hambright on January 5, 1961.Mr. Porter worked for Tenneco Oil Co. for a number of years. He then worked for Petro Lewis Corporation as a District Superintendent, retiring in 1987. He moved to Midland in 1981 from Denver City.He was a member of First Assembly of God Church where he taught Sunday School, served as an usher and was involved with the Royal Rangers. He was active with the Gideons for many years and was involved with the jail and prison ministries throughout the West Texas area.He is survived by his wife, Wilma; one son & daughter-in-law, James and Carol Hambright of Des Moines, Iowa; two daughters & sons-in-law, Mary and Donald Larmee and Judy and James Holt all of Midland; one sister, Mickey Friend of Odessa; five grandchildren, Daryl Armstrong and wife, Traci, of San Angelo, Craig Armstrong of Dallas, Eric Hambright and wife, Beth, and Lisa Hambright all of Tuscon, Arizona and Rumer Larmee of Midland; three great grandchildren, Darielle, Trevor and Dalaynee Armstrong all of San Angelo.He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, J. D. Porter; and two grandsons, Trever and Travis Poe.The family will receive friends from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM Sunday at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland.The family suggests memorials to: The Gideon's International, P.
