Marvel Kirby

Marvel Kirby, 85, of Abilene, formerly of Big Spring, died on Thursday, March 3, 2005, in an Abilene nursing home. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Royce Clay, retired Church of Christ minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.She was born on November 30, 1919, in Ryan, Oklahoma and married O. B. Kirby on October 30, 1937 in Ryan, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2001.Mrs. Kirby and her late husband owned and operated Kirby Cleaners for 46 years. She had lived in Abilene for the past 8 years. She was a member of 14th & Main Church of Christ.Survivors include a son, Danny Kirby of Stanton; two daughters, Janace Scott of Abilene and Lynda McDonald of Granbury; two sisters, Yvonne Bledsoe of Seminole, Florida and Darnella Harris of Elk City, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Berniece Wertz and two brothers, Doyle Weatherly and Bill Weatherly.
