Martha Nixon Crittenden, 87, of Cedar Park, formerly of Big Spring, died Friday, April 24, 2015 in a Cedar Park nursing home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring. She was born January 6, 1928 in Sutherland Springs, Texas and married John D. Nixon, Jr. in March 1949. He preceded her in death in March 1963. She then married Morris Crittenden in May 1984 and he preceded her in death in May 2007. Martha retired from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1989 as the secretary in surgical services. Survivors include two daughters, Luan Kessler and husband, Terry, and Susan Dickens; two sisters, Lela Phillips and husband, Bob, and Mary McCracken and husband, Mel; five grandchildren, Sherry Robinson and husband, Patric, Clinton Kessler, Jewelee Merka and husband, Ken, Joshua Dickens and wife, Shawna, and Jonathan Dickens; eight great-grandchildren, Tessa Williamson, Tobi and Tara Robinson, Kristi and Kylie Stafford, Hayli Merka and Andrew and Ashton Dickens; and two great-great-grandchildren, Karson and Krislyn Elder. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Asa and Mattie Toerck Hobbs. The family would like to say a special thanks to everyone who loved and took such good care of our mother at New Hope Manor in Cedar Park, Texas. Not only did she develop good friendships with the other residents there, she loved each and every one that took care of her on a daily basis. Her quality of life for the past few years was so much better because of them. Thank you!
