Martha C. Tope

Martha C. Tope, 83, of Midland, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026.

Martha was born on October 1, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was raised in Fort Worth, Texas, where she grew up surrounded by family and friends. She graduated from North Texas State University in 1964 and went on to dedicate several years of service to Consumer Credit Counseling before retiring.

Martha will be remembered for her kind heart, quick wit, unwavering strength, and deep love for her family. She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome, earning the affectionate title of “the hostess with the mostess.” Whether she was opening her home to friends and family, enjoying water aerobics, or lovingly caring for her beloved turtles, Martha found joy in the simple moments and in bringing people together. She had a personality that was impossible to forget. Martha was wonderfully goofy, endlessly generous, and always put others before herself. She rarely had an unkind word to say about anyone. Instead, she would smile, say, “Bless their heart,” and follow it with a knowing wink. Her laugh was one of a kind—infectious, unmistakable, and capable of bringing joy to everyone around her.

More than anything, Martha cherished her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love, encouragement, and laughter left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Alan Norris and his wife, Leslie; her granddaughter, Ashley Hyatt and her husband, Roger, along with their children, Aubree and Addison; her step-grandchildren Colby Hafley and Shelby Rogers and her husband, Trevor, along with their children, Braxton and Brooklyn; her sister, Catherine Rogers and her husband, Virgil along with their children; Sharon Rogers and her wife Sharon Milgram; Wes Rogers and his wife Nancy; her stepdaughter, Jani Stewart and her husband, Doug along with their children Margo and Jake; her stepson-in-law, Rick Fox along with his son Gregg; her first husband Jay Norris; and other beloved extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Brant Conway; her mother, Dorothy Boles; her stepfather, Sam; her beloved husband, George Tope; and her stepdaughter, Lindy Fox.

The family will host a visitation on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory. Attendees are encouraged to come anytime during those hours. Refreshments will be served.
