Martha Mosier Burkett, 95, passed away on June 3, 2013 in Midland, Texas. She was born in Dowagiac, Michigan to Carl D. and Ruth Mosier. After elementary and high school education in Dowagiac, she attended Rockford College in Illinois, and graduated with a bachelors degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She married high school sweetheart Jack M. Burkett in 1939 and worked as a legal secretary and then as a homemaker after the birth of their two children. In 1951, the family moved to Ohio, living in Marietta, Sabina, and Blanchester as Jacks banking career advanced. After the sudden death of Jack in 1974, Martha again worked as a legal secretary, then retired and moved to Midland, Texas in 1980 to be closer to her family. Her joy was babysitting her grandchildren, attending their activities, and being with family. Later she enjoyed the grandchildrens and great grandchildrens visits. She was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and held several offices throughout the years.She is survived by son Jack Burkett and son William Burkett and wife Karen, all of Midland, Texas; granddaughter Jennifer and husband Jason Meyers, of Dallas, and great grandsons, Hayden and Price Meyers; grandson David and wife Lauren Burkett of Keller, Texas and great grandchildren Nolan and Becca Burkett.The family plans a private service, and memorial gifts can be made in Marthas name to the Alzheimers Foundation, Manor Park, 2208 N Loop 250 West, Midland, TX 79707, or to a charity of choice.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
