Mr. Marshall C. Gulledge passed away at his home on September 10, 2007. He was born November 11, 1922 in Paris, Texas to M.C. and Pearl Gulledge. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. He spent two years at East Texas State College before joining the U.S. Navy in 1943. He served four years as a TBM pilot and was released to inactive duty as Lieutenant JG.He was married to Betty Lou Polk on September 17, 1946 in West Virginia. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1951 with degrees in Petroleum and Mechanical Engineering and spent 27 years with Mobil Oil Company before taking early retirement and subsequent employment with Gulf/Chevron. After his retirement in 1988, their retirement years were filled with world travel until his illness in 2006. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Midland, and has previously served as Deacon and Elder of several churches.Marshall is survived by his wife of almost 61 years and two sons, Layne of Midland, Leslie of Charlotte, NC, and two daughters, Loralee and husband, Alan Reid and their children, Hillary and David of Wellington, New Zealand, and Lois and husband, Craig Bell and their son, Aaron of Corpus Christi. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Friday, September 14, 2007 at the funeral home chapel in Midland with Rev.
