Marline Byrd passed away at the age of 80 on July 14, 2016 in Midland, Texas surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Marline was born on September 15, 1935 near Mereta, Texas in Tom Green County to Marvin and Pauline Perkins. She graduated high school at San Angelo High School, Class of 1953, where she met her future husband, Jack Byrd. Marline and Jack were married in San Angelo on August 26, 1955 and had three children, Jeffrey, Gregory and Shari. The Byrd’s lived in several towns in Oklahoma and Texas where Marline made it her priority to raise the kids while Jack pursued his career as a Petroleum Engineer. The Byrd’s also lived in Tacoma, Washington prior to moving to Midland, Texas in 1975. Marline made many lifelong friends as a member and officer of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, PE Wives club, and Permian AIMEES. She also was a Pink Lady at Westwood and Midland Memorial hospitals and was awarded a Certificate of Volunteer Service from Gov. Rick Perry in 2006. Marline loved to play golf with her golfing buddies at Midland Country Club and particularly enjoyed their annual golfing trips to Horseshoe Bay and Cloudcroft, New Mexico. She loved her many friends in the John Class at First Baptist Church, Midland. Marline loved to travel. She particularly enjoyed visiting with her sisters, other relatives, and spoiling her grandkids.Marline is survived by her husband Jack, children Jeff Byrd (wife Billie) of Dallas, Texas, Greg Byrd and Shari Byrd of Midland, grandchildren, Joshua (wife Amy) of Morgan Hill, California, Jared Byrd (wife Stacey) of Houston, Morgan Byrd of Dallas, Heather Brewer (husband Logan) of Austin and Victoria Byrd of Midland, great grandchildren, Emma and Abby of Morgan Hill, California, sisters Barbara Parker of San Angelo, Dolores Roberts (husband Loren) of Fort Davis and much loved nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents and her beloved daughter-in-law, Patricia Lechwar Byrd.The family would like to express our gratitude to Marline’s primary caregivers, Laketa Defer and Dacia Martin, along with numerous other dedicated caregivers from Nurses Unlimited and to her primary physicians Drs. Vogel, Barnett and Watkins as well as Drs. Oliver and Matthews during her recent hospital stay.Visitation will be on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland, 3800 N. Big Spring St. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church, 2104 W. Louisiana Ave. Pallbearers will be Joshua Byrd, Jared Byrd, Logan Brewer and Austin Britton. Members of the John Class at FBC will be Honorary Pallbearers.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 2104 W.
