Marlene Kay Mims, age 86, passed away Saturday the 10th of December 2022 at 7:50 in the evening at Shannon Hospital in San Angelo.
Kay was born May 4, 1936 in Lamesa, Texas to Henry and Marjorie Hill Wilkins. Kay is survived by her husband, Loyd Mims of San Angelo. The two recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary, December 3rd. She is also survived by four sons, Rickey Mims, Ronnie Mims, Russell Mims, and Robert (Bob) Mims. “Memaw” leaves behind eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren and one sister, Hazel Moore.
Kay was preceded in death by siblings Kenneth Wilkins, Patsy May, Kitty Sue Eison and her parents Margie Hill and Henry Wilkins.
Kay and Loyd lived most of their life in Stanton, Texas then moved to San Angelo, Texas in 2007. Kay was a wonderful cook and a dedicated cotton farmer’s wife. Her pride and joy were her four boys and all of her grandchildren.
Kay and Loyd loved camping in their travel trailer, going from the coast to the mountains with fishing trips in between. Kay was an amazing cook who loved having her family during the holidays. She was an active member of the Church of Christ. She loved gardening and feeding all the wildlife while Loyd sat in his recliner and watched her.
Visitation will be Friday the 16th of December in Stanton at Gilbreath’s Funeral Home from 5pm until 7pm. Graveside services will be held at Trinity Memorial Park at 11am Saturday, the 17th.
