Mark Zimmerman was born on August 26, 1960 in San Antonio, Texas to Rev. Herbert Zimmerman and Maude Herschap Zimmerman, the youngest of six children. He entered his heavenly home on January 20, 2026 at his home in Midland. Mark was baptized on September 18, 1960 at St. John Lutheran Church in Marion, Texas and was forever marked and sealed as a child of God. When he was in second grade his father accepted a Call to First Salem Lutheran Church in Roscoe, Texas where a brown-eyed first grade girl would claim that Call was also meant for her! Mark and Gina were confirmed on June 2, 1974 and later married on August 15, 1981. Their love story flourished for 44 years and was filled with fun and travel and many exciting adventures! Mark loved planning trips and together he and Gina traveled the world, covering the United States, 64 countries, 12 provinces, 7 continents and 2 territories. At the time of his death, they were planning a 7-week adventure to Asia!
Mark retired in 2020 from a 40+ year career in the oil and gas industry where he made many life-long friends. He was a kindhearted man and had a fun-loving spirit. He was the life of every party, never met a stranger, and if you crossed paths with him you were blessed. He always took up for the underdog and made a deep and lasting impression on many of his peers. His legacy will be his example of having a true servant’s heart. He cared deeply for others and would always lend a hand, especially to the elderly, widowed and shut in. He truly lived loving his neighbor as himself. He loved his Texas Tech Red Raiders and his blood ran red and black! This man of God is already deeply missed!
Mark was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder and sang in the church choir.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Maude Zimmerman, brother Rodney Kelso of Seguin, Texas, sister Connie Groff of Sweetwater, Texas and brother Reuben Zimmerman of Augusta, Georgia.
Mark is survived by his bride and life-long love, Gina Zimmerman, sister Barbara Merz of Lubbock, Texas (Erwin), brother Kenny Zimmerman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (Tommie), and sister-in-law Sylvia Kelso of Seguin, Texas, along with one aunt and one uncle in Minnesota, many nieces, nephews and cousins, some very special friends, and all the Greats he loved so very much!
A visitation will be held at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home on Monday, January 26 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 27 at Noon at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor Robert Pase presiding.
