Mark Douglas Wright, 71, of Midland, Texas, was born April 23, 1955 and passed away at home on October 5, 2026.
On September 12, 1981, Mark married Gena Thompson. For 45 years, they shared a life together, raised their family, and later had the joy of becoming Pawpaw and Gigga to Taylor and Tinsley.
Mark was a hardworking man with a kind and caring heart who was always there when someone needed him. He worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family and took great pride in the life and business he built. A Master Electrician, Mark owned and operated Arc Electric from 1986 until 2023. For 37 years, he proudly served the Midland community and became known to many simply as “Mark with Arc.” He also spent many years as an Assistant Scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 175, something he truly enjoyed.
In his free time, and especially after retirement, Mark enjoyed traveling, tinkering with cars, and puttering around the house. He could often be found working on one project or another when he wasn’t spending time with family and friends. Mark was an active member of One Hope Church of Christ, where he valued the fellowship and friendships he shared with his church family. More than anything, Mark loved his family. He was a devoted husband, a great dad and brother, and a friend who could always be counted on. But being Pawpaw held an especially important place in his heart. He loved Taylor and Tinsley more than anything and took every opportunity he could to spoil them rotten.
Mark is survived by his wife, Gena Thompson Wright; his son, Randy Wright and wife, Whitney; his daughter, Rachel Whitney and husband, Justin; his granddaughters, Taylor and Tinsley; his sister, Margie Appleton and husband, Mickey; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Bertha Wright; his sister, Sharon McWilliams; his in-laws, Gene and Fayla Thompson; and his brother-in-law, Danny Thompson.
Mark will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched throughout the years. His family will remember him most as someone they could always count on—someone who worked hard, loved deeply, and was always there when they needed him.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2026, in the chapel at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland, Texas.
