After a lengthy illness, Mark H. Hobbs went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 21, 2004.A Graveside service is planned for Monday, May 24, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Resthaven Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, May 24, 2004 at 1:00 at Crestview Baptist Church, 3300 Thomas, with Dr. John Gerlach officiating. Mark was born May 19, 1922 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Mark and Florence Hobbs. He was reared and attended school in McAlester. he joined the National Guard in 1938, and when World War II began, he was mobilized into the 45th Division. He served in the European Theater as a Corporal and received both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.After returning from the service, he married Patty Jean Cash on Septembver 18, 1946 in Dallas. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Sul ross Univeersity at Alpine in 1950 and also attended the University of Oklahoma from 1950 to 1952. He moved to Midland in 1952 with Atlantic Oil & Refining. He also worked for Lloyd, Penn, Hills & LeSassier and Texas Gulf Producing before beginning his independent geological consulting business in 1963 and subsequently owning and operating E Log Library from 1967 to 1973. A Certified Geologist, Mark was a member of AAPG and SEPM.Mark was a member of Crestview Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.Mark is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patty Jean Hobbs, their son, Lee D. Hobbs and his wife, Elizabeth, their daughter, Julianne Lawrence and her husband, Jerry; seven grandchildren, Derek Daugherty, Leslie Nelson and husband Kenny, Jeff Hobbs and wife Pam, Wendy Ghiasinejad and husband, Bahram, Lindsay Lawrence, Michael Lawrence and wife, Patricia, and Matthew Lawrence and wife Coleen; and three great grandchildren, Katarina Lawrence, Zachary Nelson, and Mattie Lawrence. Mark is also survived by his brother Howard (Chester) Hobbs, of San Jose, CA.Mark was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Tom Hobbs and Richard Hobbs and one sister, Alice Hobbs.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Crestview Baptist Church Forward by Faith Fund.,
