Mark Eddie Cook, 50, of, Stanton, died on Monday, September 1, 2008, at the Hospice In Patient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital due to kidney disease. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton with, Van Pendergrass minister of Downtown Church of Christ, officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday September 3 from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Gilbreath Funeral Home. He was born on April 12, 1958, in Big Spring, Texas to Eddie and Nelwayne Cook.Mark graduated in 1976 from Stanton High School and had attended Howard College, Odessa College, Midland College, and UTPB. He farmed in Martin, Glasscock and Midland Counties. He also worked as a meter reader at Caprock Electric. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kyle and Melody Cook and Kenneth and Cheryl Cook all of Stanton; his step mother, Alta Cook of Midland; one sister-in-law, Charlotte Cook of Stanton; six nieces & nephews, Kevin Cook and wife, Erin of Glasscock County, Keith Cook and wife, Jana, Kayla Cook, Karyn Pylant and husband, Zack all of Stanton, Ragan Outlaw and husband, Justin, and Justin Darden all of Midland; two great nephews, Kanyon Pylant of Stanton and Brannon Darden of Big Spring; two step-brothers, Bill "Skeeter" Straub and family of San Antonio, and Claude Straub and family of Reno, Nevada; numerous cousins including Bill Wilson of Stanton and good friends, Rory Murray of Kermit, Clay and Rena Harris of Stanton and all of his dialysis friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Nelwayne Cook and a great neice, Katie-Jo Lynn Cook. Pallbearers will be Mike Scott, John Yater, Clay Harris, Kevin Shoemaker, Morgan Cox, Garry Hull.The family would like to thank the staff at Stanton Care Center and Hospice of Midland In Patient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital.
