Marion Brandt Mayhall, 87, of Midland passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church in Midland. A graveside service will be held 3:00 pm, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Brad Cemetery in Strawn, TX. Marion was born on April 21, 1928 in Fosston, Minnesota to John P. Brandt and Magna Clauson. She was a telephone operator in Bremerton, Washington when she met Bob, who was stationed there while getting discharged from the Marines after WWII. After Bob was discharged, they went back to Minnesota to get married then moved back to Texas to resume his old job with Texas-New Mexico Pipe Line Co. After living in several locations in the oilfield, they settled in Midland in 1973. She resumed work as a telephone operator at First National Bank for many years and later at Citizens National Bank before retiring. She developed many very close friends at church and her sewing club, and quilting club. They even had regular card-playing and game sessions for years and thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to each one of those.She is survived by brother, Ken Brandt and wife, Jane of Tucson, AZ; niece, Jean Ryan of Mineral Wells, TX; niece, Nancy Cox of Minnesota; long-time very close friends, Robert (Bob), Wanda (Kelton) and Ronnie Jones; very close and long-time camping, fishing and vacation traveling friends, Darlene Dodds, Henry and Martha Lewellen, Ruth Eberle, Doris Edwards, Sam and Dave (Bob’s cousin) Slemmons, Smitty and Lyndale Smith, Janet Noble and Leslie Wright. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. (Bob) and her parents.The family would like to express their gratitude and enormous thanks to all the many caregivers at Saddleridge (Brookdale), the nurses at the dialysis center, all the dedicated workers at Encompass Home Health, especially Angela; and her very special doctors, Dr. Ganta and Tiffany Hansen, P.A., Dr. Case, Dr. Rascon, Dr. Oliver and Dr. Yarlagadda.Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.
