Marilyn Ruth Douglas, 94, of Midland passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Marilyn was born on November 12, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to Mary and Clifford Dray. She married Max Earl Douglas on March 20, 1947 in Napoleon, Ohio.
Marilyn, lovingly known to many as “Granny”, had a passion for God, life, family and the outdoors. She was a true matriarch who was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marilyn loved walking, swimming, her dogs, fly fishing in Colorado, visiting Santa Fe, New Mexico and preparing family holiday meals at her home.
Marilyn had a gift for needlepointing. Her passion led her to being a part owner in the Kit & Kaboodle, a needlepoint shop in Midland, where she enjoyed working with and helping others learn the art of needlepointing.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Douglas and wife, Deborah of Missouri City, Texas, and Gary Douglas and wife, Paula of Midland; daughter, Lynn Pace and husband, Mark of Midland; daughter-in-law, Mary Douglas of Midland; sister, Janet Korn of Cleveland, Ohio; grandchildren, Julie Brunson and husband, Phillip of Houston, Texas, Douglas Prieto and wife, Natalie of Dallas, Texas, Diana Blake and husband, Spencer of Midland, Sydne Douglas of Los Angeles, California, Elizabeth Gilmour and husband, Jess of Midland, Emily O’Shaughnessy and husband, Blake of Denver, Colorado, and Jenn Offutt and husband, Marshall of Nashville, Tennessee; great grandchildren, Joshua Brunson, Peyton Prieto, Ellie Blake, Hugh Gilmour, Millie Prieto, Gates O’Shaughnessy, Claire Blake, Henry Gilmour, Smith O’Shaughnessy, Pace O’Shaughnessy, and Simms O’Shaughnessy; and beloved dog, Holly.
Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Max Douglas, her son, Steve Douglas and her brother, Clifford Alfred Dray, Jr.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Kathy, Stephanie, Eva, OT and Belinda and the team at Hospice of Midland for their loving care of Granny.
