Marilyn Murray Judson, 89, died Monday, April 15, 2013 after a short illness. Mrs. Judson was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma July 23, 1923 to Harry Sinclair Murray and Berenice Carter Murray. During her childhood years, she lived with her family in various cities including Amarillo, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Kansas City, Memphis and Detroit. She graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois and attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. After graduating from Northwestern in 1946, she moved to Midland, joining her parents and her brother, Harry Sinclair Murray, Jr. Shortly after coming to Midland she began working for Shell Oil Company in the personnel department, where she met her future husband Edward Harry Judson. They were married on February 17, 1951 and were married for fifty-seven years, until her husbands death in 2008.During her married years she devoted herself to her family, rearing three children. She served as a troop leader in the Girl Scouts, taught Sunday school and tutored children at Casa de Amigos. In addition, she was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as Regent in 1977/1978. Her husband and his two long-time business partners, Ken Williams and Bill Martin formed MWJ Producing Company in 1954. Marilyn and Ed started The Edmar Company in 1996 as an oil and gas operating company. She actively participated in the running of the company. She recently had the opportunity to donate minerals and fossils to Midland College for their program and a mineral collection to the Petroleum Museum of Midland for their permanent display. Marilyn enjoyed travelling and with her husband saw much of the world on their many trips. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church from the late 1940s until her death.She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Harry Sinclair Murray, Jr. of Irving, Texas. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Collins Murray of Irving, Texas and Winifred Judson Livingston of Kerrville, Texas and brother-in-law, Roger Judson of Houston, Texas; her children and their spouses, Judith Lyn Judson and Richard Coar of City Island, New York; Linda Judson and Jim Harrison of Atlanta, Georgia; and Don and Julie Biggs Judson of Midland, Texas; and her four grandchildren, David Edward Judson of Orlando, Florida; Anna Kathleen Harrison and Brian Thomas Harrison of Atlanta, Georgia; and Annabelle Claire Kate Judson of Midland, Texas. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 21, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home, 3800 N. Big Spring St in Midland. Funeral services will begin with a graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4616 North Big Spring Street at 10:00 AM, Monday, April 22, 2013 followed by funeral services at First Presbyterian Church, 800 West Texas Avenue, at 11:00 AM. The service will be officiated by Pastor Steve Schorr. Honorary pallbearers are John Schlagal, Jack Blake, Lorenzo Dominguez, and Roger Judson.
