Marilyn Doran Irving, 88, of Midland, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018 surrounded by her family. She had a radiant, beautiful smile right before her Lord and Savior called her home. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 10:00 am at Crestview Baptist Church with Dr. John Gerlach officiating.Marilyn was born on April 17, 1930 to Odile and Robert Doran in New Orleans, LA. She attended Southwestern University in Lafayette, LA on a musical scholarship as a vocalist. She taught high school English in Pine Prairie, LA and Leesville, LA. She also taught English and Literature at Fort Polk in Leesville to military personnel in the early 1970’s. Marilyn then moved to Houston, TX and became a Property Manager and Employment Counselor. In 1995 she moved to Midland, TX where she taught GED courses until she retired in 2000.Marilyn attained her certification as a Master Graphoanalyst which she used in business as well as a hobby. She taught this discipline as a continuing education course at Midland College and had great fun meeting her students and analyzing the handwriting of family and friends. One of her greatest pleasures was reading as well as spending time with friends and family talking, laughing, and sharing life. She loved to travel with family, especially in the RV. Singing and dancing was a great passion of Marilyn’s and she loved nothing more than hearing her children sing. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were very special to her.She is survived by her children, Ralph Irving of Midland, TX; SuSu Vancil and husband, Loyd of Burton, TX; Eddie Irving and wife, Anne of Fort Worth, TX and Ray Irving and wife, Joy of Midland, TX; five grandchildren, Grant and Katie Irving, Collin Irving, Joshua and Kaki Irving, Blair and Dylan Carpenter, Megan and Ryan Dupriest and two great grandchildren, Jackson Dupriest and Beckett Carpenter. She is preceded in death by her parents, Odile and Robert Doran.The family would like to express their gratitude towards Hospice of Midland and Midland Memorial Hospital Nursing Staff, Manor Park, and all the Pastors, Priest, friends, and family who loved her.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crestview Baptist Church, 301 Loop 250 Frontage Road, Midland, TX 79703; Gifts of Hope/Hope House of Midland, 2006 W.
