Marilyn Dian Bowlin Johnson Nesrsta, age 79, was born on September 5, 1945 to Marjorie Beth Hubbard Bowlin and Mearle Bowlin. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am at Fairmount Cemetery in San Angelo, Texas on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
Mrs. Nesrsta is survived by her husband, George, a daughter, Tamara Dian Johnson, her grandchildren, Emily Dian Carrell and Garrett Wyatt Carrell, her brother Dennis Bowlin and Paula, her sister, Melody Barnett Prichard and husband Rod, nephews, Rob Bowlin and Keegan Salners, and nieces Cari Booth Pearson, Whitney Bowlin Howell, Lissa More, and Claire Wilson. She is also a great aunt to Chandler Pearson, Fuller and Layton Debes, Alex, Addison and John Luke Bowlin, and Whitten and Brooks Howell. She is also survived by sister and brother-in-laws, an aunts, uncles, cousins and so many beloved friends.
She was “Fluff” to her precious granddaughter and namesake, Emily Dian Carrell and Garrett Wyatt Carrell. She was so proud of them and cherished spending time with them as they grew up in Midland.
She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Joey Johnson, father Mearle, her mother Marjorie, her stepfather, Kelsie Barnett, her brother, David Bowlin and her in-laws, Joe and Emily Johnson.
Mrs. Nesrsta was raised in San Angelo and graduated from San Angelo Central High School. She was an active member of the community for many years. She was most proud of her time as head leader of the San Angelo Central Tex-Ann’s as well as being voted Most Beautiful in high school. She was involved with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Symphony Guild, San Angelo Club Women’s Golf Association, Tri-Hi-Y, Fiesta Del Concho, Jaycee-Etts, and was honored as an Outstanding Young Women of America.
She loved her years as a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and her years on different committees for the Queen of Hearts Ball.
She was one of the first women to attend Texas A&M when it changed to a co-educational school. She was a proud Aggie all of her life. She often spoke about her daughter graduating from Texas A&M and her grandson’s upcoming graduation from A&M in 2025. Marilyn also attended Angelo State University where she received her real estate license.
She moved to Midland in 1980 and began her career in the oil and gas industry. In Midland, she was a member of Act IX, Natural Gas Society, Natural Gas Producers Association, PBPA, Women in Gas Society, Desk and Derrick, Red Hats, and several local charities.
