Marijo Walker, 72, of Big Spring, died Thursday, August 22, 2013, in a Midland hospital after a two year battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Calvary Callender, officiating. Entombment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park Masoleum.The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, August 26, 2013, at the funeral home.Marijo was born June 25, 1941, in Big Spring, Texas to Cecil and Ora Francis (McDaniel) Thixton. Marijo grew up around motorcycles and it was her large Harley motorcycle that first caught Howard's eye until he noticed the beauty riding it. She was just 18 and the courtship began. They were married November 25, 1959 in Big Spring. She quickly taught Howard to ride and they became the owners of the Big Spring Harley Davidson Shop which she inherited from her parents who opened it in 1929. There is not anything in the shop she could not do. She loved being outdoors riding motorcycles and fishing. She cherished being with her family and taking such good care of them.She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Howard Walker of Big Spring; three sons, Cecil Walker and wife, Laura of Amarillo, Robert Walker and wife, Vickie, and Bruce Walker all of Big Spring; one brother, Garner Thixton of Big Spring; four sisters, Carijo Thixton of Big Spring, Linda McKnight of Lake Austin, Rose Teeler of Big Spring, and Tammy Johnson and husband, Junior of Summerville, South Carolina; two grandsons, Colby Walker and wife, Bayli of LaMoore, California, and Jettley Walker of Canyon; one granddaughter, Jade Walker of Midland; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of biker friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Orville and Ora Francis (McDaniel) Thixton.The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society -Hope Lodge- 3511 10th Street, Lubbock, TX 79415.Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring.
