María Felix Chavez, born on November 20, 1970, in Rioverde, San Luis Potosí, México, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, surrounded by everyone who loved her. She fought with all the strength in her heart to give us a one last moment.
María was not just an amazing woman; she was an incredible cook who poured love into every dish she made. We will forever miss her famous gorditas and enchiladas potosinas, the foods that brought our family together. Even the simplest meals she made were unforgettable.
What she enjoyed most was peace within her family seeing her children united, supporting each other, and staying close. What made her special was simply her: her presence, her comfort, her strength, and her unwavering love. She was our safe place, the one who gave us peace when life was heavy.
She was known for her kindness, her constant support, her strength even through pain, and her gentle humor. But above all, she showed her love in the way she stayed present for her family. Even in her final moments, she waited for all of us holding on until every child had arrived giving each of us the gift of one last moment with her. Her love was so strong that she chose to stay until she knew her family was together, just as she always wanted.
One of María’s greatest accomplishments was earning her permission to work in the United States something we were incredibly proud of. She proudly served as a custodian for BSISD, a job she embraced with joy what she loved the most about her job was seeing her grandbabies run into her arms during lunch and kissing on her every chance they had and she cherished every school event that she was able to be part of.
She told her granddaughter she would soon get her wings, and now she has earned them at last. But while she is flying high, our hearts were simply not ready for her heavenly goodbye.
María was surrounded by deep love. She was cherished by her husband, Jose Felipe Chavez, her mother, Abundia Gonzalez and her children: Jose Guadalupe Chavez Jr., Juan Manuel Chavez, Mariana Ashley Dodd, Maria Isabel Chavez, and Jose Felipe Chavez Jr. She is reunited with her angel babies, Rey Chavez and Diana Chavez, her little brother Sergio Gonzalez, and her nephew Sergio Gonzalez Jr., whom she spoke about often and carried tenderly in her heart.
Her beloved grandchildren Juan Manuel Chavez Jr., Jose Guadalupe Chavez, Julian Chavez, Maria de Guadalupe Dodd, Isabella Maria Chavez, Jolene Francis Chavez, Ana Lucia Chavez, Miley Rae Dodd, and Marbella Chavez brought her endless joy, laughter, and purpose. They were her heart, her light, and her greatest blessings.
She was lovingly supported in her final days by her nephews Cristian Gonzalez and Andrew Gonzalez, and by Chloe Perez, who remained by her side in Dallas during the times her family was not able to be there every day. Their presence, love, and strength meant so much to her and to all of us.
She is also survived by her siblings Juan Gonzalez, Enrique Gonzalez, Lorenzo Gonzalez ,Gonzalo Gonzalez ,and Josefina Gonzalez, as well as their families, and her friends who loved her dearly.
Her legacy is love, strength, and family. She taught us compassion and unity, and her warmth will forever live in our hearts. And even from heaven, she continues to teach us how to face life without her.
