Maria Elena Hernandez

Maria Elena Hernandez, 90, of Big Spring, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026 in Lubbock. Viewing will be from 9am to 9pm, Thursday, June 4, 2026 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with visitation from 5pm-7pm.  Rosary service will begin at 7pm.  Funeral Mass will be at 10am, Friday, June 5, 2026 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with interment at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

Maria was born March 28, 1936 to parents Saturnino Jimenez and Petra H. Jimenez in Marfa, Texas.  She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Parish. She had a lifelong passion for Tejano music and was always ready to dance, lighting up the room with her joy and rhythm. She was happiest when surrounded by the laughter of her family and friends, sharing good times and creating memories that we will cherish forever.

She is survived by her daughters: Joann Garcia (Edward Sr.), Delma Haro (Henry), Belinda Castillo (Milton) and Norma Cervantes (Tony); step-children: Delores Diaz (Edgar), Richard Guzman (Denise), John Guzman (Isabel) and Connie Guzman (Ramon); her grandchildren: Edward Garcia Jr. (Mandy), Amy Lopez (Angel), Jesse Haro (Jacque), Melissa Rodriguez, Kathy Hull (Jeremy), Brandi Cisneros (Victor), Timothy Castillo (Whitney), Justin Cervantes (Juston O.), Breanna Evans (Hutton) and Matthew Cervantes; great-grandchildren: Alexia (Joseph), Crystal (Maliki), Jourdan (Tyler), Trevor (Hannah), Carly (Kreg), Jonathan, Nicholas, Natalie, Kimberlie, Kinley, Karsyn, Jett, Ayden, Brandon, Ethan, Jayce, Atiana and Kingston; great-great-grandchildren: Xyleek, Emmett and Spencer.

She was preceded in death by one daughter Rosalita Claveran, her parents Saturnino and Petra Jimenez, her brother Willie Jimenez and twins Ismael and Rosa Jimenez, her companion Armando Guzman, great-great-granddaughter Lainey Vaden and her niece Brenda Jimenez.

Pallbearers will be Edward Garcia Jr., Jesse Haro, Jeremy Hull,  Justin Cervantes, Matthew Cervantes, Trevor Haro, Jonathan and Nicholas Rodriguez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Angel Lopez, Hutton Evans, Victor Cisneros, Justin O-Rear, Timothy Castillo, Tyler Vaden and Kreg Weddige.
