Margie Kathleen Sims, 90, a long time resident of Stanton, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2005, at Martin County Hospital in Stanton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church in Stanton with Reverend Daniel Armstrong, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 20, 2005 from 6 until 8 PM at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton. She was born on March 11, 1915, in the Centerpoint Community of Big Spring, Texas. In the 1930's, her family moved to Stanton. She married Clyde Sims on December 18, 1936 at the Methodist Parsonage in Big Spring. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1946. Being a widow early in life, Margie worked very hard to raise her two daughters. She worked as a supervisor in the cafeteria of the school and at the Dairy Treat, simultaneously, for many years. She had also worked as a checker at Friendly Foods in Stanton. She was very active for a number of years with the Martin County Senior Citizens, where she belonged to the quilting club. At last count, she had helped make 67 quilts with the club, not to mention the many she made for her family. Margie was a gardener, and paid special attention to her roses. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 70 years, where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. In the class, she has served as treasurer for over 20 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by two daughters: Ann and husband Bobby Jenkins and Janice and husband Bobby Kelly, all of Stanton, five grandchildren: Denny and wife Jayle Jenkins, Ron and wife Gayle Jenkins, D'awn and husband Aaron Pruit, Sonya and husband John Jones, and Jim Bob and wife Angela Kelly, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is further survived by a sister: Mildred Bryant of Amarillo and several nieces and nephews. Margie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, an infant son, Jerry Clyde Sims, a great grandson, Jody Tarter, one brother and three sisters.Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Denny Jenkins, Ron Jenkins, Jim Bob Kelly, Aaron Pruit, John Jones and friend, Dennis Ireton. The family suggests memorials to Martin County Senior Citzens, P.O. Box 1233, Stanton, Texas 79782, the building fund of the First United Methodist Church of Stanton, P.O.
