Margie Edmonds Gibbs, 72, of Midland, passed from this life and went to Heaven on September 18, 2007, after a valiant fight with breast cancer. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday, September 20, 2007, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Midland. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, September 21, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Midland with Dr. Gary Dyer and Rev. Robert Hopkins, officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.Margie was born on May 18, 1935, in Stamford, Texas, to J. Roy and Annie Edmonds. She married Sam G. Gibbs on July 21, 1962, in Anson, Texas. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Baylor in 1957. Sam and Margie moved to Midland from New Orleans in 1970. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Midland. Margie served others at Head Start, as a Pink Lady at the hospital, a Sunday school teacher, a Vacation Bible School teacher, and treasurer for Community Bible Study. She also had the gift of quilting and blessed others prolifically by giving them away for birthdays, weddings, graduations, Christmases, babies, and just because. It seemed the more intricate and tedious the work, the more she enjoyed it. Margie loved to play games with friends and family and worked jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She loved basketball, especially her Lady Baylor Bears. Margie is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Sam Gibbs of Midland and her daughters, Sue Nelson of Sugar Land and Pam Crockett of New Braunfels. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Porter and Rebecca Nelson and Sarah and Gavin Cash Crockett and two sons-in-law C. M. Nelson and David Crockett; a brother, Hagens Edmonds and his wife, Dollie of Odessa; and two sisters, Pat Edmonds and Royann McDowell of Anson and many nieces and nephews. Margie was preceded in death by her parents, James Roy Edmonds and Annie Edmonds and two sisters, Frances Edmonds and Mary Edmonds.The family wishes to thank pallbearers C. M. Nelson, David Crockett, Lee Young, Porter Nelson, Gary Kahler, and Dennis Shipp for their service.
